Abstract Background

Call for Submissions

Greetings from the Intellectual Property Rights Committee!

Intellectualis is a bi-monthly, student-run e-newsletter undertaken by the Intellectual Property Rights Committee (IPRC). We seek to facilitate vibrant discussion among the IP legal and academic fraternity in exploring developments in intellectual property law and its various interactions with other subjects.

We are thrilled to introduce the upcoming volume of Intellectualis (2023 - 2024) as a series of collaborations planned with reputed organisations and law firms. For the month of January, we have partnered with The IP Press.

The IP Press team started their blog with the goal of ensuring access to the latest intellectual property (IP) developments for all IP aspirants. They focus on addressing IP concerns of stakeholders, students, academicians, researchers, start-ups, etc. and guide them to attain and enforce their IP rights.

The team of technically-skilled professionals aim to spread awareness on the latest IP issues by conducting workshops for IP professionals, seminars and video lectures for IP aspirants, reviewing and commenting on IP policies, advising on IP disputes, etc. In light of the same, we are pleased to invite submissions for our January issue on the theme "Generative AI and IPR".

Generative AI, encompassing AI systems capable of autonomously producing content such as text, images, and music, stands at the intersection of innovation and Intellectual Property Rights. This theme aims to explore the legal, ethical, and technological dimensions of the dynamic relationship between Generative AI and IPR. Specifically, delving into the challenges presented by AI-generated works within the evolving landscape of copyright, patent, and trademark laws. Submissions may be in the form of articles, case analyses and other works including comic strips and artwork.

Kindly submit your entries by 30th January, 2024 to ipr@law.christuniversity.in. Authors are requested to take note of the contributor guidelines. The committee may be contacted through its official email address at ipr@law.christuniversity.in for inquiries and clarifications.

NAVIGATING ADR IN IP LAW MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL PERSPECTIVES .png

National-Level Webinar on ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) in IP

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) efficiently alleviates obstacles in the enforcement of jurisdiction-specific Intellectual Property (IP) laws and their interactions with international obligations. Arbitration, for instance, offers a higher degree of confidentiality towards IP disputes involving sensitive information and wider enforceability, and faster, more neutral and expert decision-making. While dispute resolution mechanisms can be administered by individual nations’ IP offices in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as in the case of Singapore and the United States, or by specific ADR regulatory bodies, like in India. This webinar will provide insights on ADR mechanisms for IP, technology and life sciences disputes and share industry experts’ experiences in handling them. Case studies from the WIPO Center for Arbitration and Mediation will help attendees understand the manner of regulating disputes they are sought to. The speakers will also discuss opportunities and paths that attendees can explore.
